There are variations of blogs to be categorized. For instance, corporate, personal or non-profit blog. Besides the common type of blog, there are some new genre of blog has emerge today as well although some of the blog are made up by combination of styles. Below is a list about classification of blogs:
MEDIA DESCRIPTION
1.Vlog
Short form for 'Video blogging' where video is the main medium of blogging. For example is YouTube, which is well known and popular for vlog.
2.Linklog
Collection of hyperlink that link to other sites but postings are limited to one link per posting and title.
3.Sketchlog
Blog that is specializing in portfolio or sketch art work.
4.Tumblelog
Similar with linklog but there are more media and post.
5.Photolog
Short form for 'Photo blogging' where photo sharing is being made in blog form. Photo are more dominant than text.
DEVICE
Moblog
Stands for 'Mobile blogging' which users publish blog entries directly to web using mobile devices such as mobile phone and iPhone.
GENRE
Political
Blog contain political view
Fashion
Blog with update and latest fashion trends and information.
Travel
Blog contain travel guide and information.
Food
Blog with various food photo and information.Although there are various type of blog but not all types of blog we are familiar with. Among all, vlog is the popular blog in this few years with the explosion of YouTube. Previously, people identify blog as an electronic version of diary where text is dominant and users take it as a mean of daily life’s expression.
However, with the emerging of YouTube, video posting become dominant than text and somehow it can be powerful than text. For instance, in the last few months, there’s an anonymous who take blog as a medium to post Edison Chen’s and his celebrity partners naked photo and start the sex scandal issues. Following with the anonymous action, those photos that posted are so powerful till it has destroyed Edison’s career as an artist in Hong Kong.
